  • Flour                               4 cups or 400g
  • Milk                                2 tbsp
  • Baking powder                 1 tsp
  • Margarine                        40g
  • Nutmeg                           1/2 tsp
  • Salt                                 1 tsp
  • Egg                                 1
  • Water                              bit by bit
  • Flavour                            1/2 tbsp
  • Oil for frying                     just enough
  • Sugar                              5 tbsp

PROCEDURE

  1. In a large bowl pour in your sieved flour,
  2. Put baking powder, sugar and all other dry ingredients, mix them well,
  3. Add margarine and mix properly with your hands until it appears like (fine bread) crumbs.
  4. Pour eggs, milk (if liquid) mix thoroughly until you get smooth and hard dough.
  5. Place the dough on a flat surface or a table and carefully knead for a few minutes
  6. then roll the dough flat and cut into cube shape or any of your desired shape.
  7. Put your oil in the fire and heat until very hot,
  8. pour in the chin chin and fry until it becomes golden brown.
  9. Pack them into a sieve for the oil to drain,
  10. air it a little and package for sale or consumption.

  1. Thanks so much I really enjoy your lecture, please ma, what can be making my chinchin becoming brown immediately it enter oil, it would have been brown between 2 to 3min and this is preventing it from been hard and crunchy

    • Thanks Saleem. The oil is too too hot, you are suppose to reduce the fire after turning the chin chin into the oil so that it can get done uniformly

    • @Rosemary, what i know is what makes it soft, if you don’t want to make it soft then reduce the number of egg used. also if you add too much of baking powder your chin chin will be hard

      • use food preservative for preservation, if you ask sellers of recipe they will show you
        yes you can use a branded name it will give credence to your business. there is room for small scale entrepreneurs to sell their products but when it starts growing it is important you register with NAFDAC
