INGREDIENTS FOR COMMERCIAL SCOURING POWDER
- Sodium Bicarbonate
- SLS (Sodium Laurie Sulphate )
- Caustic Soda
- Calcium Carbonate
- Fragrance is optional
- FORMULAR
- SLS (Sodium Laurie Sulphate ) 4 – 6 Spoons
- Caustic Soda 2 – 4 spoons
- Calcium Carbonate 1kg
- Sodium Bicarbonate 1kg
- Soda Ash 1kg
- Fragrance as desired
- PROCEDURE
- Turn the Bicarbonate in a big bowl
- Add the Calcium and stir very well
- Pour the soda ash and stir properly
- Add the Sodium Laurie Sulphate and stir very well
- Turn the Caustic Soda into the content and stir vigorously
- Add fragrance to the whole mixture if you so desire and stir very well
- Make sure everything blends together before packaging them
- Package for sale or use with the appropriate container
- You can replace the caustic soda with Sodium Chloride. Caustic soda is the is a good cleansing agent than Sodium Chloride.
HOW TO PREPARE HOME USE SCOURING POWDER
RECIPE
- Sodium Bicarbonate 4 cups
- Salt 2 cups
- Calcium 2 cups
PROCEDURE
- Pour the three ingredients into a bowl
- Mix them properly together until the harmonized

- Egg shell
- Salt
- Detergent (powder)
FORMULA
- Detergent 3 cups
- Salt 1/2 cup
- Egg powder 1 cup
PROCEDURE
Gather eggshell (you can gently wash them if you so desire in other to reduce the choking smell of egg white), sundry them very well. Grind them very well into powder form. Measure the powder into a bowl.

Pour the measured salt into the powder in the bowl and stir very well.
Add the detergent into the content and stir properly until they are well mixed.
Package them for use or sale.
You can use anything for your measurement depending on the scale you are producing but the ratio is 3:1:1/2 for detergent, egg-shell powder and salt. The egg-shell can be gotten in a large quantity from hotels, restaurants and roadside indomie vendors.
MARKETING
Start by producing for friends, relatives, colleagues, neighbours etc. Supply to hotels, Institutions, offices etc
Based on the scale you are producing you can choose which portals to advertise you product.
Reduce your price or increase the quantity of your scouring powder in other to compete very well with the existing products in the market …
You can use a small container to package your own and sell at a very low price maybe for #50 in other to get more buyers. I noticed that the people who stand in the market to sell who normally say ‘wash your pot’ sell faster than those selling in the shop.

Thanks Eno Johnson, that helped a lot. I want to go into this scouring powder business because I work in a hotel and can easily get eggshells. I want to ask you if adding charcoal ash to the ingredients can make it better because I have access to a lot of charcoal ash too. I live close to a bakery.
