How to make carrot soap without iye
You can make carrot soap without Iye (caustic soda). What you need is already produced soap such as black soap.
Carrot soap ingredients
- Olive oil 400mils
- Pureed carrot 100g
- Coconut oil 300ml
- Cooking water from carrot 200mls
- Almond oil 100ml
- Soap flakes. 110g
Procedure
- Put 2 baby carrots on a boiling water. When cooked remove and crush to make puree. Set aside the cooking water for later use
- Turn the pureed carrot into a separate pot and add 200ml of the cooking water. Mix and allow it to cool down.
- Melt the soap flakes in a bowl
- Add honey and all the vegetable oil.
- Add the carrot solution while still hot and stir very well.
- Bring it down and add the carrot essential oil. You don’t have to heat the essential oil in other not to kill their properties.
- Turn it into a mold and allow for 1-2 days to harden
How to make carrot soap whitening
In this method caustic soda which is one of the major ingredients in soap production is used.
Recipe
- Coconut oil 600g
- Sunflower oil 120g
- Shea butter 120g
- Carrot’s puree 2 medium carrots
- Sodium hydroxide (iye) 340ml
- Honey 1 tbsp
- Carrot seeds oil 5 spoons (optional)
Procedure
- Heat up the iye
- Add the carrot puree and stir well
- Allow solution to cool down
- Melt all the oils and mixed them together (coconut oil, Shea butter, sunflower oil, honey and any other oil you are using). Don’t allow it to be too hot at most (35 Celsius degree) because they are organic ingredients so they won’t be killed.
- Add the iye and carrot solution and stir very well until they harmonize
- Stir until it becomes thick like custard consistency.
- Add any essential oil you choose or any perfume of your choice.
- Pour the mixture into the mold
- Leave it for 2 days to allow the soap to hold itself together.
