How to confirm if your NIN Has been Linked to Your MTN, Glo, 9mobile SIM

How to confirm if your NIN Has been Linked to Your MTN, Glo, 9mobile SIM. Due to the barring of some SIMs from making outgoing calls by telecom companies in line with Government’s directive; it has brought more awareness on the importance of National Identification Number (NIN). Severally, the dateline for the registration has been extended before the barring by Federal Government on Monday, April 4, 2022. Telecom companies have been mandated to block lines yet to be linked with NIN from making calls. Over 70 million subscribers have been affected by this new development. And many of them are now linking their SIM, those that didn’t register are doing so in other to have access to making calls.

However, there are some subscribers who are not sure whether their sim have been linked to their number or not. This post will give you step by step order on how to check if your NIN has been linked successfully to your mobile network; Glo, MTN, Airtel, and 9mobile. In case you have forgotten your NIN, you want to check your status or forgotten where you kept your NIN slip then use this NIMC’S USSD service to retrieve your NIN with your phone number.

Steps to Retrieve or check your NIN

  • Dial *346#
  • From the option displayed, select “NIN Retrieval “, by typing in ‘1; but you have to use the same phone number you enrolled with for your NIN.
  • Follow the steps displayed on your screen and provide the required inputs
  • But a service charge of #20 fee only is required (it would be deducted from your phone credit balance).
    Mobile Network operator have been communicating through their social media platforms, support pages, or chats that all customers should link their NIN with code they provide.

How to confirm if you have linked your NIN to your MTN SIM

If you are an MTN subscriber dial *785#, you will be given option to insert your 11 digit number NIN. You will get a response telling you that your NIN has been linked. In case, you didn’t get any notification keep doing it until you confirm. National Identification Management Commission would have to verify the NIN you sent to MTN first.

How to confirm if you have linked your NIN to your GLO SIM

To link your NIN to your Glo dial *109*NIN eleven digits#. You will receive a message from Glo that they have received your NIN
How to know if you have linked your NIN to your 9mobile SIM
To confirm if your NIN has been linked to your mobile phone successfully, dial *996#, it will also show you NIN verification centre.
